Attendance - IMPORTANT READ CAREFULLY
The attendance rate of rehearsals is poor, at best. When you were first cast, all of you made a commitment to be at your rehearsals. Because of the staggering number of people not showing up, I will be making some calls tomorrow at around noon informing some people that they will no longer be in this show. Keep in mind that the only way we know if you were here or not is our attendance sheet, and I know that many of you who are present do not bother. This really needs to change. It is unacceptable. We told you all in the contract you signed at your audition that you may be cut due to poor attendance. I'm sorry it's coming to this, but the countless posts, emails and phone calls don't seem to be working. If I call you tomorrow and cut you from the show, and you feel I have done so unfairly (keep in mind that this is a joint decision between the production team, not just me deciding on a whim) because you have been there (just not signing in, which is still bad), let me know and we can try to work around this. EVERYONE who has any blocking at all was called today, but we had well less than half the cast present. Anyone who has any dancing in the show is called tomorrow.

Connor - I read the post.

I'm sorry, but the schedule has been hard to understand. My daughter was there yesterday, which she was told to be, but was not needed. We had to come right down and get her.
ReplyDeleteOne night last week, she was going to be out at 5.30. When we got there, they said 6.30.
We came back at 6.30, and they had gotten out at 6.00... This really isn't an easy schedule.
It would have been better to just have them all there, every day, period. We could do that.
I also didn't know what blocking meant, and therefore read the schedule wrong.
Anyway, my daughter loves it, and we're all exited about the play!

Noted.
ReplyDeleteSorry, but the schedule really hasn't been easy to decipher. I didn't know exactly what blocking meant and therefore read the schedule wrong. My daughter was told to be there yesterday, which she was. She wasn't needed and had to be picked up right away. One night last week, she was supposed to be out at 5.30. When we got there, they said 6.30. When we came back at 6.30, they had been out at 6.00!
ReplyDeleteIt really would be much easier to have all the kids there every day, period! We could do that no problem!
Anyway, my daughter loves it, and we're very exited about the play.
got it.
ReplyDeleteHey Conman.
ReplyDeleteI read it. Sorry that it's come to this.

Siena Fox understands and will continue to honor her commitment.
ReplyDeleteWe cannot tell you what the attendance sheet says, but we can confirm that Jorden has been at, and plans to be at, all rehearsals with the exception of 4/9 (per previous arrangements).
ReplyDeleteWe have read the post. To my knowledge Lucy has missed one rehearsal due to flu.
ReplyDeleteThanks,

ReplyDeleteThe schedule is not clear. What is dancing? Is NYC dancing? Can you just post a message every night at about the same time - only one message per day would be best - stating who is expected the next day? That would be very obvious and no one could be confused. We have been confused.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your hard work Connor. Maya Caulfield (chorus) has been at all chorus and NYC dance rehearsals. I believe she may be signing with a colored pencil. But I can confirm she has been there. I will make sure that she signs in with her initials. Today 4/10 may be the only rehearsal we have to miss due to the only conflict we foresee this Spring. She is absolutely enthusiastic about being a part of this production. Thanks, Yasodha
ReplyDeleteI read this, too.
ReplyDeleteOkay Conner,
ReplyDeleteI read the post!
Thanks

Love you Connor!

We have read the post. I do agree the schedule is difficult to understand. if you are a member of the chorus is NYC considered blocking or dancing? I also have a concern about the timing of rehearsals for the younger cast members. I am reluctant to leave my 9year old unsupervised at the highschool for hours at a time, and I am sure you all do not have the time to entertain them. An actual time they need to be there would be great. Without all the wait time. Just a suggestion.

Mia Cywinski wasn't on the sign in sheet until just recently, and I believe she forgot to sign in once. She has been at every rehearsal to which she was called. Can I make suggestion to put a date on the calendar so we know which one is most current? I have printed it out at least 10 times and it can get confusing.
ReplyDeleteHey Connor. I read it.

I think that my daughter's been there when she needs to be, and is signing in. The hard part has been really knowing just WHEN she's supposed to be there.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone here in saying that the schedule is completely confusing. To top it off, my daughter has been there more than she is supposed to according to the schedule and I STILL got a call saying she hasn't been attending. Better attention should be paid to the little ones participating.
ReplyDeleteThank you
We have done everything we can to make the schedule less confusing. If it says Act 1 Scene 1, and you are in act 1 scene 1, then you should come. If we call a dance or song you are in, you should come.
ReplyDeleteIf you get a call saying that your child is not there, it's because they didn't sign in, even though I have made many posts about the importance of this. I do not know who everyone in this cast is. I know names and characters, but I can't remember everyone's face. It is the responsibility of the actor or their parent to sign in so we can actually tell you're there. I also will not be able to post exactly who is called because I do not have the time to do that.
I read it Connor. Thanks for all your hard work! Love you!
ReplyDeletep.s. I find the schedule fairly clear, fyi.
ditto.
ReplyDeleteread, understood, very sorry you are stressed :(
